UCI GRAN FONDO WORLD SERIES
The UCI Gran Fondo World Series is a circuit of 25-30 UCI-sanctioned races held around the world, which will qualify the best riders in each age group for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, where champions receive the coveted rainbow jersey.
Fight for the rainbow jersey
The Millars Gran Fondo is the only race in Spain belonging to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, which means that if you want to win the UCI jersey or the exclusive UCI medal, in Spain you can only get it in this event. The first 3 of each of the 10 age groups (male & female) will go up to the podium, the winner being the one who will be able to wear the UCI Jersey and will be automatically classified for the Gran Fondo World Championship. In addition, all those cyclists who are within the best 25% of their age group will receive a UCI medal that will accredit their classification for the Gran Fondo World Championship.
The first 3 in each male/female age group will go up to the podium receiving a trophy, in addition the winner will be able to wear the UCI jersey, will receive the UCI medal and will be automatically classified for the World Champs. In addition, the best 25% of each age group will also receive the UCI medal proving their qualification for the Gran Fondo World Championship.
The names of riders having gained qualification through the UCI Gran Fondo World Series will be communicated on the UCI Gran Fondo World Series website and will receive an official email from the UCI inviting them to register for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships via the dedicated online registration portal.
Only participants aged 19 or over can qualify for the World Champs.
The cyclists who start are taken into account, not those who finish. For example, if 100 cyclists in the female age group of 40-44 years start, the best 25% will be classified, in this case the first 25 cyclists to cross the finish line.
The 25% is rounded up to the highest number to determine the exact number of qualified runners per age group (for example: with 26 participants, 6.25 are eligible for qualification, meaning the first 7 will be the classified ones).
The list of qualified cyclists will be published on The Millars Gran Fondo website, but the results will be pending approval by the UCI. Only the list that is published on the website www.ucigranfondoworldseries.com can be considered as an official list of classified runners.
10 age groups have been established for each sex. The first group includes 19 to 34 years old. From this group, the skald goes from 5 to five years, that is, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years… and so on until the 74-79 group that we have established as the last one, but nevertheless, if there were participants aged 80 and older, more sections of categories would be opened:
- 19-34
- 35-39
- 40-44
- 45-49
- 50-54
- 55-59
- 60-64
- 65-69
- 70-74
- 75-79
- Etc…
