- WHAT KIND OF EVENT IS IT?
It is an international cycle sports march included in the UCI calendar, with start and finish in Castellón (Valencia – Spain) in a one-day format. It is the only event in Spain within the World Series circuit, and the only one in Spain that qualifies for the Gran Fondo World Championship.
- WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The event is open to all those interested in participating, whether you have a license issued by a cycling federation recognized by the UCI of the current year or not. People of both sexes and ages 19 and older can participate.
- WHAT ARE THE UCI GRAN FONDO WORLD SERIES?
It’s a series of 25-30 events around the world, which allow you to qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The only event in Spain of these World Series will be The Millars Gran Fondo. - WHAT TYPE OF BIKE CAN I PARTICIPATE WITH?
Standard road bikes are allowed. Time trial/triathlon bikes, electric bikes, gravel bikes, mountain bikes or fixie bikes bikes are not allowed.
- WILL I HAVE A JERSEY AND MEDAL AS A GIFT?
Yes, when you collect your bib-number, you will be given a commemorative jersey of the event as a gift. For safety reasons, we recommend that you wear it during the march. If you finish within the established time you will receive a finisher medal from the organization. If you also finish within the top 25% of your age group, you will receive a UCI medal that will certify your classification for the World Championships.
- ONCE REGISTRATION IS COMPLETED, CAN I CANCEL IT?
Yes, if you choose cancellation insurance. ONLY at the time of registration, you could add insurance that, for any reason, will reimburse 100% of the registration on the same card with which the registration was made, as long as it is within the established period. The cost of insurance is not refunded. The insurance conditions are reflected in the event regulation.
- IF I DON'T HAVE A CANCELLATION INSURANCE CONTRACT, CAN I REQUEST A RETURN OR TRANSFER?
If you haven’t contracted cancellation insurance, you CAN’T request any type of total or partial refund, or transfer. The insurance is to cover unforeseen events such as injuries, poor fitness, coincidences with events such as weddings, trips, etc. Its hiring is highly recommended.
- CAN RELATIVES OR FRIENDS ACCESS THE POST-FINISH LINE AREA?
Yes, it can be purchased, only in advance, during the registration period. Tickets are priced at €22 per person, and are free for children 5 years old or younger. It can be purchased during registration or can be added at any time before registration closes.
- IS THERE ANY SHORTER ROUTE OPTION?
If you want to live the experience of participating in a UCI Gran Fondo World Series event but the official route is too long, you can choose an alternative route. As explained in the regulation, there will be a control point (CP) at km 38, where you can detour to the finish line and cover a total distance of 121.8km. This option will not be part of the UGFWS classification and scoring, nor will UCI medals and jerseys be awarded, however you will have a finisher’s medal and jersey from the organization.
- CAN I CHANGE DISTANCE ONCE REGISTERED?
Yes, once you have registered and selected the distance in which you are going to participate, you can change it with the closing date for registration (February 28 at 6:00 p.m.).
- CAN I PARTICIPATE IF I AM BETWEEN 16 AND 18 YEARS OLD?
Yes, you can participate from 16 years old. Those under 18 years of age must present the official model of the organization with the authorization of their parents or guardians. However, participants aged 16 to 18 will not be part of any participating age group in the UCI World Series, they will not have an award ceremony or a UCI medal. They will have a finisher medal if they finish in the stipulated time.
- CAN ANOTHER PERSON PICK UP MY BIB IF, FOR MAJOR CAUSE, I CANNOT?
Yes, but it is mandatory to provide the official authorization document for bib collection, which you can find by clicking here.
IMPORTANT: Also remember that you must also personally go through the bib collection area to put on the wristband at the bib-number collection time.
- IS THERE A CLOAKROOM SERVICE?
Yes, there is cloakroom service, in the Village zone.
- HOW IS START PROCEDURE?
The start is organized by boxes, all at the same time. The criteria used to organize the boxes is the age group and is defined by the UCI World Series regulations, which can be consulted here. The first box will be for the 19-34 age group; second for the 35-39 age group; third for the 40-44 age group; fourth for the 45-49 age group; and fifth and last for those 50 years and older. Men and women of the same age group will be placed together in their corresponding box.
IMPORTANT: The boxes are not ordered by estimated speed, club, etc. The only criterion is the age group. Access to the box will be controlled by the organizing staff. If someone enters a box that is not theirs, they will be disqualified.
- THERE IS PARKING NEAR THE EXIT?
Yes, there are different public car parks in the vicinity of the event areas, explained in detail in the section Timetable.
- CAN I RECEIVE SUPPLIES FROM A PERSON OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION?
Yes, a person who is not from the organization can give you supplies, but always within the established personal aid station areas. Outside these areas it will be prohibited.
- IS IT GOING TO BE BANNED THE TURNED-IN BRAKE LEVERS?
No, the UCI is not going to review the position of the brake levers.
